BAE Systems Has Won a $22.7 Million Contract to Supply the US Navy with Weapon Systems
FARNBOROUGH, UK (BulgarianMilitary.com) – BAE Systems Land & Armaments, a subsidiary of BAE systems, UK has won a $22.7 million contract to supply the US Navy with Mk110 57mm Weapon systems, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, quoting UKDJ.
The company will produce three 57mm Mk110 Mod 0 gun mounts and associated hardware, the US Department of Defense said in a statement Monday.
The system is fitted to United States Coast Guard cutters and Littoral Combat Ships.
The new 57mm Mk110 is internationally known as the Bofors’ 57Mk3. The MK 110 gun mount includes a 57mm multi-purpose, medium caliber gun, ammunition hoist, power distribution panel, muzzle velocity radar, barrel-mounted television camera and a laptop computer gun control panel.
Its primary mission is to provide engagement of known surface threats during combat operations in a theater area of operation, the Navy said in a statement, reports UPI.
Work is expected to be complete by January 2022.
