Russia’s Rostec Ready to Discuss Su-57 Deliveries to India

MOSCOW, the Russian Federation (BulgarianMilitary.com) – On Monday (25th February), in an interview with the local state media, Viktor Kladov acting as a Director for International Cooperation and Regional Policy Department at the state corporation Rostec, expressed Russia’s readiness to hold talks with India on the deliveries of the Russian fifth-generation fighter jets Sukhoi Su-57 to the latter, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.

India showes interest in acquiring the Russian Su-57 but, according to the Rostec official, the Asian country needs to outline the further concept of its Air Force, which includes – to be determined how such aircraft would fit into the Indian Air Force’s general concept and what their focus should be. The other issue that should be considered and cleared by New Delhi is what money it is ready to spend on purchasing several models of the Russian multirole fifth-generation jet fighter or on building up significantly the number of the reliable Su-30MKI fighters that the Indian pilots are already familiar with.

At the same time, the representative stated that Rostec’s top priority was the Russian Air Force, and observing that, the state corporation was ready to continue with the deliveries of the 4+ and 4++ generation planes and the work on the delivery of the 5th generation aircraft.

“The latest Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jet has been tested in combat conditions in Syria and its deliveries to the Russian troops have begun,” Kladov concluded.

We recall that, at this year’s air show Aero India 2019, India filed a request for the delivery of 21 Russian MiG-29 fighter jets that to assemble and upgrade with the latest weapons and avionics. The information was reported by Russia’s daily newspaper Kommersant, citing the Deputy Director of Russia’s Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation Anatoly Punchuk. Previously, India received more than 200 Su-30MKI multirole fighters from Moscow.

The Russian 5th generation multirole fighter Su-57, which is aimed at destroying all types of air targets at long and short distances as well as enemy ground and naval targets, for the first time took to the skies in January 2010. The latest Su-57 combines the functions of an attack plane and a fighter jet. The use of innovation technologies, composite materials and the fighter’s aerodynamic configuration ensure the low level of radar and infrared signature.
