Weapons Based on New Physical Principles to be Developed by Russian Corporation
MOSCOW, the Russian Federation (BulgarianMilitary.com) – On Wednesday (13th February), a source at the Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov office, cited by the Russian news agency TASS, stated that the innovative military technopolis Era, which was opened in September last year, would start conducting research in six new promising areas, one of which to be the development of weapons that operate on new physical principles, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
The TASS source shares that Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Borisov is scheduled to inspect the facilities of Era and then to hold a conference the subject of the talks of which will be devoted to cooperation between the local institutions of higher learning and the defence industries with Russia’s Ministry of Defence in the process of conducting research and development on the basis of the technopolis.
The statement also reveals information about upcoming plans for adding six promising guidelines of research, which along with the development of weapons on new physical principles will be geographic information platforms with military uses, small space apparatuses, as well as geophysical support, hydro-meteorological (meteorological) and artificial intelligence technologies used for for developing weapons, military and special technologies.

At the moment, the eight research guidelines that the military innovative technopolis Era is working along, include supercomputers, robots, information security, nanomaterials and nanotechnologies.
Several dozen defense industrial companies are united in the Anapa –based technopolis Era, the research and development projects of which are run by Mikhail Kovalchuk, the president of the national research center Kurchatov Institute.
Previously, Russia’s Minister of Defence stated that the Defence Ministry would advance with the building of the technopolis Era and its integral infrastructure, which would enable the implementation of innovative projects to the full. In particular, the infrastructure of the technopolis facilitates all stages of armaments development process (researches, prototyping and development of principally new samples in the shortest term – up to three years) at one single place, by combining educational and scientific functions, trail production and training ground.

The Era military innovative technopolis is about to fully start its activity in 2020.
The technopolis will work also on revealing emergent commercial technologies potentially interesting for the Russian Defence Ministry and will assess their potential for application in favor of the Army. The main goal of Era is to research possibilities for introducing artificial intelligence in military sphere.
