Bulgarian Armed Forces Solemnly Marked the Beginning of the New Military Training Period
SOFIA, Bulgaria (BulgarianMilitary.com) – Yesterday (7th January), the military formations of the Bulgarian Armed Forces marked with solemn ceremonies the beginning of the military trainings and preparations in 2019. The commanders of the Joint Forces Command, the Land Forces, the Air Force, the Naval Forces and the Special Forces Brigade presented to the military personnel the main tasks and objectives that should be implemented in 2019, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
On this occasion, yesterday, the Air Force Commander Major General Tsanko Stoykov attended Krumovo and Graf Ignatievo airbases, and the Deputy Commander Brig. Gen. Petyo Mirchev – the military air training base “Georgi Benkovski” at Dolna Mitropoliya.
In his address to the personnel, Major General Stoykov highly evaluated them for the successful accomplishment of the tasks that were set for 2018. He outlined three clear priorities for the new 2019, which include high level of flight safety and protection of people and equipment, L-39 accelerated flight training of a young flight crews that subsequently to be taught to operate the MiG-29, as well as successful participation in national and international exercises and trainings.
The commander of the Joint Forces Command Lieutenant General Lyubcho Todorov said that in the near future the Bulgarian Joint Forces Command expects the planning, preparation and participation in the multinational distributed computer assisted exercise”Balkan Bridges -2019″, as well as in the multinational “Black Sea / Balkan Regional Exercises -2019” (BS/BRE 19). He also pointed out that “the process of preparation, certification, deployment and implementation of the national control of the units participating in NATO and EU operations will continue, as well as the certification of the declared units by the Bulgarian Army for the NATO Response Force for 2019 and for the NATO Collective Defence.”
The yesterday’s ceremonies in the military formations were accompanied by demonstrations of the servicemen’s skills in carrying out tasks such as transferring light cargoes to a ship, preparing a ship crew for battle, extinguishing a ship fire, rescuing a victim using the Panther helicopter, a mine disposal as well as inspection and detention of a ship-intruder.
For the beginning of the new military training period, the Commander of the Bulgarian Navy Rear Admiral Mitko Petev attended the military ceremony that was held at Varna Naval Base Point, where he handed over the certificates for ship operation to young Navy officers.
The Commander of the 68th Special Forces Brigade Brigadier General Yavor Mateev outlined the priorities in the training of the brigade in 2019, focusing on the forthcoming certification of the 1st Special Combat Action Battalion and the participation of the Special Forces in national and international exercises.
