EDA and Thales Join Forces under a Network Services Contract
BRUSSELS, Belgium (BulgarianMilitary.com) – EDA (European Defence Agency) announced on 24 October 2018 that the Agency and Thales Six GTS France SAS have signed a network services contract within the EU Satcom Market project of EDA, learned BulgarianMilitary.com

The contract comes as a result from the close cooperation between EDA, the missions’ CIS (Communication and Information System) personnel and the Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC) for defining the requirements and evaluating the most favourable proposal. EDA led the process up to the conclusion of the contract and will continue to bear the full responsibility for its management throughout its execution.
Under the contract it will be provided secure network and communication services to the MPCC and the EU’s Training Mission (EUTM) in Mali.

The contract has been concluded so that to involve several options which, if exercised, will include provision of the services to the EU Training Missions in the Central African Republic and Somalia as well. The duration of the contract is until the end of 2021 and its potential value is €6 million.
Thales Six GTS France SAS is to provide network and communication services for unclassified and EU Classified Information (EUCI), and namely a secure work stations, printers, WAN with LANs, VoIP phones, VTC and encrypted mobile phones for EUCI communication, SMART phone communication application, Cyber Defence services, technical support, accreditation support, training and transportation.

The goal of the SatCom Market project of the European Union is to provide contributing Member States with an option to efficiently source cost effective commercial Satellite Communications (SatCom) and wider CIS services. The offered Satcom services cover SatCom terminals for all bands (including military) and end to end services with transmission links. The proposed CIS services involve the integration of telecommunications with radio and IT networks and include both hardware and software. The services ensured thanks to the EU SatCom Market project allow users to access, store, receive, transmit and manipulate information needed for meeting a wide range of operational needs, abroad and at home.
