British Army Selects Elbit Systems UK to Provide Morpheus BMA Solution

HAIFA, Israel, (BulgarianMilitary.com) – On 2 October, the Israeli international defense electronics company Elbit Systems Ltd. announced that its U.K. subsidiary has been awarded a new contract by the UK Ministry of Defense. Under the terms of the new order, Elbit Systems UK will be responsible for providing the British Army with the Morpheus battlefield management application (BMA), learned BulgarianMilitary.com.

With the signing of this $13 million initial contract, the U.K. armed forces will acquire an operationally proven battle management application (BMA) for headquarters as well as for tactical units, delivered by Elbit Systems UK within the period of three years. It is expected the maximum value of the deal to reach $51.96 million over the entire award period. Elbit Systems’ BMA is based on company’s widely spread TORC2 H™ command and control platform, which is also in use of the Australian Defense Forces in its Land 200 Tranche 2 Project for Battle Management System.

The Morpheus BMA is inseparable part of a larger project – Land Environment Tactical Communications and Information Systems (LE TacCIS) program, which is established by the U.S. Army and Joint Forces Command . LE TacCIS is scheduled to supply the different forces operating in a land environment, including elements of the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, with next generation tactical communication and information systems.

“We are proud to have been selected by the UK MoD to supply the Morpheus BMA providing a valuable capability for the British Army. In doing so we will be bringing Elbit Systems’ operationally proven capability and technological edge into the UK, adapting it for use and delivering it together with our local partners,” the chief executive officer of Elbit Systems UK, Martin Fausset, said.
