Larsen & Toubro Delivers the OPV-2 ICGS Vijaya to the Indian Coast Guard

The MD and CEO of Larsen & Toubro Mr. S. N. Subrahmanyan commented, “Delivery of ICGS Vijaya ahead of contractual schedule reinforces our impeccable record of accomplishments in Defence Shipbuilding. Going forward, with commitment, huge infrastructure and talent pool in place, L&T aims to contribute significantly towards making Indian Coast Guard and Naval Fleet self-reliant.”

The 2,160-ton vessel was delivered today and it is second of seven OPVs, which is being designed and constructed by L&T under a contract from March 2015 with the Ministry of Defence.

ICGS Vikram, which is the first vessel of the series, was handed over earlier this year on 11th April as a curtain raiser for DEFEXPO-2018, and the OPV-3 was launched on 28th August at the L&T Kattupalli shipyard.

The works on the OPVs 4, 5 and 6 are ongoing and they are at different completion stages.

The Ministry of Defence of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam has also entrusted the Indian company Larsen & Toubro for designing and building High-Speed Patrol Vessels for the needs of the Vietnam Border Guard.
