Patriot PAC-3 MSE Air Defense Missile System Breaks The Distance Record

Developed as a modernization of the already battle-proven PAC-3 Missile, the latest system The PAC-3 MSE successfully completed its first missile defense flight test, led by the U.S. Army, learned

The accomplishment of the test flight was observed by representatives from the U.S. Army and a current Foreign Military Sales PAC-3 MSE customer.

During the test were demonstrated the superior Hit-to-Kill ability of the Patriot PAC-3 as well as its capabilities to find, track and intercept approaching ABTs or missiles. The hit-to-Kill capability ensures better performance in the countering evolving threats by body-to-body contact.

PAC-3 CRI and MSE are high-velocity interceptors, elaborated by Lockheed Martin in order to defend against upcoming threats, such as tactical ballistic and cruise missiles as well as aircraft. PAC-3 CRI supports the US Army’s Field Surveillance Programme (FSP) by providing reliability and readiness of the tested PAC-3 missiles.

In reference to the test, Jay Pitman, vice president of PAC-3 programs at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control said: “Patriot PAC-3 MSE continues to be successful against today’s evolving threats, and this most recent test validates its effectiveness at extreme distances,” and added that PAC-3 Hit-to-Kill interceptors are expected to continue to be an essential element, serving in integrated, layered defense systems. And considering the global security environment, he added that nowadays are required reliable decisions.

There are already twelve countries that have acquired the PAC-3 missile defense interceptor. These are the U.S., Germany, Kuwait, Japan, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Romania, Poland, the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates.
