The Royal Netherlands Air Force Will Acquire RPAS from GA-ASI (Video)

A week ago, on 17 July 2018, within the framework of the Farnborough Airshow, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) announced that the company will deliver Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) to the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNAF). The global leading manufacturer of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) has been selected by the Royal Netherlands Defence Force, learned BulgarianMilitary.com

Under the agreement RNAF will receive from GA-ASI its Predator B/MQ-9 Reaper Medium Altitude, Long-endurance (MALE) UAS. The Predator B is designated MQ-9 Reaper by the U.S. Air Force and Royal Air Force customers of the company. The existing fleet of MQ-9s may boast of over 2 million operational flight hours with the USAF (the United States Air Force), UK RAF (the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom), French and Italian Air Forces, NASA and the US DHS (the U.S. Department of Homeland Security). MQ-9 systems will be delivered to the Spanish Air Force next year.

The MQ-9 is the first hunter-killer UAS developed for long high-altitude surveillance.

The Predator B is multi-mission UAS that features flight endurance of up to 26 hours of and is equipped with a ground-imaging/MTI/maritime radar, optical and IR HD-video and other surveillance sensors. The payload capacity of the aircraft is extensive (386 kg internally, 1361 kg externally). The maximum altitude that it may reach is 13,700 m.
