The Mi-28UB first test flights are already a fact. That was announced by the Ministry of Defence of Russia on 5th July 2018, learned BulgarianMilitary.com

The first test flights of the new combat training helicopter Mi-28UB were performed by the Russian Army Aviation at an airfield in Southern Russia within the Krasnodar Territory.

The test flights of the helicopter were conducted at altitudes of up to 1000 m and involved take-offs, landings and flights at. The checks covered the flight and manoeuvring characteristics at various speeds and the functioning of the helicopter systems and mechanisms in the presence of loads and overloads.

The helicopter is intended for flight trainings and flying crew trainings. For the next training stage it is planned the new helicopters to conduct fire training tasks in the combat ranges of Kuban.

The last two letters of the Mi-28UB stand for “Uchebno-Boyevoy” in Russian, which means “training-and-combat” and hence this version of the Mi-28 with the NATO reporting name “Havoc” has been designed for training for the Mi-28N helicopter. It features dual hydro-mechanical flight controls that can be operated from tandem cockpits, as well as a more spacious lower cockpit to house a flight instructor, a wider pilot canopy, and new energy-absorbing crew seats. It has been developed to serve as a trainer, but can perform attack helicopter tasks as well.

The Mi-28 is a Russian all-weather, day and night, military tandem, two-seat anti-armour attack helicopter with no intended secondary transport capability. It is manufactured by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant – a Russian designer and producer of helicopters headquartered in Tomilino, Russia. Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant is a subsidiary of Russian Helicopters.
