Agreement on Maintenance of the Bulgarian MiG-29s Was Signed

On 21st March 2018, the Ministry of Defence announced on their website that the framework agreement on integrated logistics maintenance of MiG-29 aircrafts was signed with the Russian Aircraft Building Corp RSK MiG the same day. The agreement was signed after all deadlines for lodging of appeals on the public procurement had expired. The budget of the signed contract for maintenance is BGN 81 million and it covers supply of spare parts and provision of services. The maintenance and repair works on 12 combat and 3 training-combat MiG-29s will be executed by Bulgarian engineers at Graf Ignatievo Air Base for a period of 4 years.

Thanks to that contract it is secured the operation of the Bulgarian MiG-29 fighters, as well as the performance of the tasks related to the protection of the air space of Bulgaria.

The newly signed contract does not affect (cancel or delay) the procedure for purchase of a combat aircraft of new type in any way and it is expected it to be submitted for review to the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria till the end of April.
