NATO’s collective defense and new EU`s defense capabilities are just a part of th Bulgarian National Security Strategy, approved by the Bulgarian government. The strategy has not been published yet, and its vote in the Bulgarian Parliament is expected.

The document gives a different view of national security. Citizens’ security, public and economic aspects as well as specific state defense, foreign policy, intelligence, public order and protection of the law being of paramount importance.

For the first time in the national security strategy some new policies are included, such as cyber security, transport security, crisis management, archive protection and protection of cultural and historical heritage.
