Extending of army modernization deadline requested by defense minister

Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov has submitted to the council of ministers a proposal for extending the term of the Bulgarian army’s modernization up to 2029. The minister explains his stance with the necessity of purchasing new equipment for the land forces, as some EUR 600 mln. are to be spent over the next 12 years for the buying of 198 units of battle and special equipment. The new proposal does not suggest the cancellation of the projects for modernization of the naval and air forces.
